Maybe commission a caricature to bring a little levity to the proceedings - these don't have to be in colour, a classic pen and ink style can be very effective.  Or how a bout adding a bright colourful graphic to your sign - if you're a gardener maybe some flowers or if you're into soft furnishings then some plaited ribbons.  Perhaps all it needs is a glimpse of blue sky and some soft green grass...
